Have you ever felt unloved or unwanted? Have you ever spoken the words in your mind, "If only I had someone to love me for me! If I just had someone who cared about me!" You're not alone in such thinking. Many people have had those very thoughts themselves, including me.
Life will sometimes dump on you the negative feelings that no one cares about you, that no one cares if you live or die, that no one cares about your anxieties or fears. But I came to realize that that was 'faulty thinking' on my part. There really was someone out there who cared about me, who cared about my uprising each day, who cared about my damaged emotions, who cared about my needs. Not only did he care, but He loved me! I found that person to be Jesus Christ - the only One who has loved me unconditionally, at all times, even when I haven't been the best person. I've often wondered, "Why does He love me like that?"
I found out - that's just the way Jesus is - it's His nature to love and you know what? He loves you, too!! Whether you are what society calls the 'least of them' or if you're considered 'the greatest of them,' Jesus loves you! When you hit this earth in your mother's womb, The Lord was already filled with love for you and that love has not changed. He calls you 'the apple of His eye' (Deuteronomy 32:10, Psalm 17:8). You are someone whom He loves very much. He's using my fingers to type this message to remind you that He cares deeply about you, your needs, your worries, your struggles, your hurts and your soul. He stands as The Almighty God of Love ready to minister and once again demonstrate His love for you. You may ask, "When did the Lord demonstrate love for me?"
He first showed this love over 2000 years ago when you and I were polluted in our own mess - we were a a terrible sight to see, a bloody mess (Ezekiel 16:6). But when He looked at you and I, He saw someone beautiful and precious that satan wanted to keep in bondage, low self-esteem and self-hatred. But the Lord's love was so great towards us that He said I must go down to earth and release them from the bondage and the mess they are in. But the only way that the Lord could get us released was to die and shed His blood. His blood was the only payment that could secure our release from the bondage of sin and all of its bad fruit. So He did what any good father would do - He paid the ultimate price to set us free. He came down, in the flesh, as a human being, and gave His life for us. He took our penalty of death for our sins, exchanged places with us and died on the cross. Oh, the depth of His love for us!
But our victory wasn't assured until Jesus arose three days later from the dead voicing the truth that ALL power was now in His hands. The power to set us free from all the horrendous things that satan wanted to do in and with our lives. Now that's love - GENUINE LOVE! And what the Lord wants more than anything else is for you and I to reciprocate that love, to love Him with all of our heart, mind, body and soul.
If you haven't returned that love to Him, do it today. Return His love for you by accepting Him in your heart. When you do that, He's got a wonderful gift ready to give you. To read more about His love and His promises of salvation for you, read Acts, chapter 2. My prayer is that you continually experience the great love of Jesus as you pour your love out to Him.
